Sparkly Ozotic Chevrons

OPI William Tell Me About OPI, Ozotic 908, Ozotic 903

I wore this crazy chevron mani a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that glittery, shimmery polishes are fast becoming my favourite polishes to make these little chevron stickies with. They seem to be a lot more flexible and easy to work with. These photos don't do these Ozotic polishes justice (check out 903 in action here), it was so sparkly!

For this mani, instead of using a base colour and having it show through between the chevrons, I completely covered my nails with chevrons and alternated 908 and 903 chevron strips.

I'm back! And Ikea scissors have changed my nail life!

Orly Fowl Play, Orly Glitz, Ozotic 513

Hello everyone! Sorry I've not been around for the past little while, it's the usual hectic life excuse. My housemate and I moved house (not so conveniently timed to occur at the same time as our insane period at work) and my poor nails were not given the attention they deserved and I didn't want to put them out in the internet world when they weren't looking their best. And, to top things off I ran out of top coat. It was a disaster.

I had to become the queen of the 5+ day manicure, but now, most of the boxes are unpacked so I can paint my nails whenever I want!

During this little hiatus of sorts, on one of my trips to Ikea, I spontaneously bought a pair of pinking shears. Quite some time ago I saw this post on how to make your own "nail sticker" type things. I bought a cheap set of fancy scissors off eBay and eagerly tried the tutorial. It was quite the fail. The scissors weren't sharp enough to cut cleanly through the nail polish and paper so I gave up after only one mildly successful manicure.

Sharper scissors were the key, but dressmaking pinking shears are around $30, and really, did I need to pay $30 just to have some cool zigzags on my nails a few times? No, I did not.

Until I saw them at Ikea for $10! I've been in chevron heaven ever since!

(On another note, can you believe that these are the only nail art type manis I've had in the past month. Sadly, they were only captured on the iPhone, not the real camera.)

Day 19 - Galaxies

Orly Liquid Vinyl, Ozotic 903, Ozotic 908, Ozotic 534, China Glaze Snow Globe, Milani Jewel FX Silver, Sinful Colors Queen Of Beauty

Gosh there are a lot of different polishes in this mani! I was quite excited about Galaxy day, but I think it's a mani that I'll definitely have to try again. I did like how these turned out, and they were a lot sparklier in real life, but after doing them, I think that less would've been more.

Ozotic Beam 908

China Glaze Kinetic Candy, Ozotic 908

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, Ozotic 908

Ozotic 908 is a new polish from Ozotic's Sugar & Beam collection. This one was really hard to take photos of. It's so sparkly in real life! The glittery pieces are pink and green. Like most Ozotics, it looks amazing over black and dark colours, but I prefer 908 over lighter colours for a more subtle shimmer. I rocked it over China Glaze Kinetic Candy and, believe it or not, on its own! Yep, if you're happy with four coats (I'm a solid three coater, so one extra is no big deal) 908 is opaque enough to wear on its own. It's my current favourite wearable white!

I also played around with making nail art decals after seeing this tutorial on Small Good Things using 908.

Ozotic 908 can be purchased online from piCture pOlish.

Ozotic Scatter Chrome 912

Ozotic 912

This sparkly thing is one of Ozotic's new Scatter Chrome polishes. It's a lovely purple polish with little bits of holo goodness in it. It's not holo glitter, more like chunky shards of holo-ness. For this mani I used three coats of 912. I'm a solid three coat kind of girl, but you could get away with two coats. I'm just so used to three that I can't help myself, especially when it's a smooth lovely polish and such a pleasure to apply!

One of the things I really like about 912 compared to some other Ozotic polishes I own is that you don't need a base colour (Mish Mash 534 and 531 I'm looking at you...) It's opaque on its own! Hooray!

The effect of the size and shape of the holo bits is really interesting. I think that if you did layer this polish over black it would make a fantastic start to a galaxy manicure! I'll definitely be getting this out when I finally make it to Day 19 of the 31 Day Challenge (which could be in one million years at the rate I'm going!)

Ozotic can be purchased online from the lovely girls at piCture pOlish.

Ozotic Sugar 903

Ozotic 903 (over China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic)

Hello people. Do I have a doozie for you. This is Ozotic 903 from Ozotic's new Sugar & Beam collection. I honestly haven't been this obsessed with a nail polish in a very long time. It was on my nails in various forms for over a week, which is an insane amount of time for me to have one polish on my nails. Basically, I spent last week staring at my hands. I was mesmerised! No work was done at all!

I also saved this very special nail polish for a very special post... It was exactly one year ago today that I first posted on Little Nails! Hooray!

Straight after I opened my nail mail I tried it out on one nail (over Essie Coral Reef and white dots!), then I tried it out over black on one nail. Then last week I wore it over China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic (one of my all time favourite nail polishes), OPI Russian Navy, OPI The One That Got Away and lastly back over Rodeo Fanatic for the weekend and to take these photos.

903 is made up of these little particles of magic (I don't really know what to call them) which kind of have the same look as glass fleck polishes. It's like someone went at some flakies with a mortar and pestle and crushed them down into tinier pieces of awesome.

Apart from being super sparkly and sugary looking, 903 has a kick a** duo chrome colour change happening. I had so many comments on my nails while wearing this. And it looks amazing in all kinds of light. As much as I love holo polishes, when you're not in the sun all day I feel like you miss out on a lot of the amazingness. 903 even looked amazing under the florescent lights in my office! It looked great everywhere!

I couldn't help myself so I made this to show the colour change. Look at it go!

Ozotic can be purchased online at piCture pOlish and for only AU$12 it's an absolute steal!

Day 8 - Metallic

China Glaze Devotion, Ozotic 534

When I was doing this mani I realised that I don't actually have all that many metallic nail polishes. China Glaze Devotion is one of my favourite polishes to stamp with, but I rarely use it to paint the whole of my nails. To add some extra bling I topped it off with a coat of Ozotic 534. So much holo!

Mixed Up Stripey Holo

Ozotic 513, BYS Striper

I've been in an Ozotic mood lately, and couldn't help but add some stripes when I had Ozotic 513 on the other day. 513 is super lovely, but I've raved about its loveliness before.

I also bought my first 'indie' nail polish a few weeks ago, and they arrived last week. I now own three Lush Lacquers - Salt n Peppa, Party Rockin and Birthday Cake... and they're awesome! So prepare to see a bit of them over the next week or so!

Are you blue? Purple? Green? Or just plain amazing?

China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic, Ozotic 505, Ozotic 528

As I mentioned in my last post, I bought a few new Ozotics last week, one of which was Ozotic 505. This is a damn awesome nail polish! It's blue, it's purple, it's green! And it changes completely depending on what you layer it over! I'd painted my nails with Rodeo Fanatic (because it's one of my all time favourite nail polishes and I love applying it!) and since it's a similar sort of colour, I thought I'd see how 505 went over it, instead of layering it over black like I do with most Ozotics.

For a bit of extra multi-chrome fun I added a coat of Ozotic 528 over the top. Ozotic 528 has the same colour shift as 505, just in glitter form. I nabbed this combo idea from Cathy of More Nail Polish fame (and general Queen of Holo & Ozotics). I was a bit lazy though and didn't do that many coats of glitter as she did. Check out her mani for 528 glitter awesomeness.

And sadly, if you haven't heard, Ozotic is discontinuing a bunch of their polishes, including both 505 and 528 (most of the 500s in fact), so if you were thinking of getting some Ozotics, do it now before it's too late! Picture Polish (the distributors of Ozotic) also said on their Facebook page that the availability of Ozotic polishes in general is a bit unknown at the moment. Best to get the ones you want while they're still around!

Blue, Green & Purple Watercolour Mani

OPI GelColor Passion, Essie Mint Candy Apple, OPI Fly, OPI A Grape Fit, China Glaze First Mate, Ozotic 505

My second watercolour mani! This time in blues and greens, with a bit of sneaky purple. I had this on at the same time that I received my package from Picture Polish. PP recently had a sale and I bought Ozotic 505 and Ozotic 530. I couldn't resist adding a coat of 505 to this mani. It gave it a subtle bit of shimmer and sparkle.

Cake, Nails & Glitter!

OPI Black Onyx, Ozotic 528, Ozotic 529

I was in a glittery Ozotic mood on Friday, mainly becasue my Friday afternoon was spent looking through swatches of Ozotic nail polish and Picture Polish nail polishes. The lovely ladies from Picture Polish were having a great little sale on a bundle of Ozotics and PPs and I was trying to figure out which colours to get.

Ozotic 528 and 529 are both multichrome glitters and they are just amazing! It's so hard to get a photo that shows the real life awesomeness of these glitters!

Over the weekend I caught up with my friend Julia, who is getting into nail art and wanted to have a little nail art, nail polish play around afternoon. We got out a rainbow selection of nail polishes out and played around. While Julia mastered the dotter, I painted my  housemate Lucy's (AKA The Giver Of Chanel Peridot) nails. I liked the colours she picked so much I thought I'd do my nails the exact same!

Also over the weekend, we celebrated Lucy's birthday with a lovely pie and an epic cake (my other housemate Anna is a genius baker!) Lucy's nails (OPI Panda-Monium Pink & OPI Pirouette My Whistle) matched her cake so well I insisted on a photo!

Netty Rainbows

OPI William Tell Me About OPI, Ozotic 534, Face Of Australia White Gold, China Glaze Devotion, Bundle Monster BM-208

After a weekend away (wearing William Tell Me About OPI), a 5.30am start to catch a flight back to Sydney, then a full day of work I was feeling a little bit lazy by the time I made it home. I couldn't be bothered to take off William Tell Me About OPI, even though there was tip wear and it was looking a bit shabby, so I added a coat of Ozotic 534. Instant rainbow magic! Then I thought, why not add some stamping over the top, so I did with White Gold. Then I thought, why stop at one netty looking stamp? Trap those rainbows! I'll add another layer of stamping! And that was how this bizarre lazy manicure was born! It was actually a lot cooler looking in real life than in these photos.

Please ignore the chunks taken out of my left hand. I had a slight altercation with the grater while cooking last night. Luckily it just got the polish and not my fingernail!

Ozotic 513

Ozotic 513

I don't have much to say about Ozotic 513, apart from the fact that it is AMAZING! It's a little bit pink, a little bit purple, a lot of awesome! Look at that holo! And sadly, this picture does not do it justice! It's even more amazing in real life. Another great thing about it is it's actually quite a lovely colour even when it's not being all sunny and holo-dazzling.

In other news, I may be posting slightly less over the next 3-4 weeks (by less I mean twice a week instead of three times a week). We're coming up to an excruciatingly busy part of the year at work, known to staff as "Rush". Pretty much says it all. To give you guys a bit of a scale of the whole rush factor, we'll go from having about 100 customers a day to 5000 a day for a solid two weeks. Yep, it's called Rush for a reason! So, I'm guessing (since I've never actually experienced Rush) that I'll be pretty tired of an evening and might not be the chirpy bloggie lass you're all used to. I guess we'll see how it goes!
